I am excited to launch my first official blog for Sweet Christine’s Gluten Free Confections.  My hope is that this blog will give you a more in-depth look at the inner workings of my bakery and my thoughts on Celiac Disease and living a glutenfree lifestyle. I will cover topics ranging from latest news and medical advances, to unique Sweet Christine’s business practices and products, plus information for people suffering from Celiac Disease and food allergies.

Understanding Celiac Disease

I built my website not just for the purpose of promoting my business but also to provide resources to help people understand more about Celiac Disease. I hope you’ll find this space interesting and possibly useful.  I am a baker but I am looking to connect with people who offer different perspectives but share the same passion for spreading the word about Celiac Disease and gluten-free diets.

Over time it is my hope this blog provides you with a deeper insight into my business, who we are, what we do and what we care about.  I am very excited to be out here talking to you!

Thanks so much for visiting Sweet Christine’s website and my blog. Please stop back and read future blog entries and let me know what you think!

Hi Christine--I enjoyed perusing your website. Vickie Winton told me about it when she read some of my postings on facebook. We went to high school together. I am gluten intolerant, casein intolerant, yeast, soy, corn, & egg intolerant. Eating is a real challenge. I am a gormet cook who now has to channel her energy into creating meals free of all those ingredients and actually have them taste like something I want to eat!!!
I had gene and stool analysis done to confirm what I suspected to be Glu. Intol. It all came back positive. I have two G.I. genes, so naturally, my three kids all inherited at least one. But, because my son was having hand tremors, I had him tested as well. He was worse off than me. He has two exact G. I. genes both of which predispose him to the neurological manifestations. His hand tremor started around age 15 yrs. He is now 21 and in college and trying to cope with cooking GF/Casein free meals and contend with his rather severe hand tremors. (My mom had them as well, but hers started later in life and really made it impossible for her to do anything with her hands. She was never diagnosed.) My son is awaiting the results of the egg, soy, & yeast tests. I was told by the people at UMBC celiac research center that they don't recognize the results of stool analysis and that I have to undergo blood tests, intestinal biopsy, and colonoscopy to rule out everything else before they will see me or my son. Something wrong with that!!!!
I admire all your efforts to raise Celiac awareness...it is badly needed and much overdue. I think it is great that you are so passionate about this cause and are actively engaged in making a product that Celiac & Glu. Intol. people can eat. Life without bread is very hard. Do you make a flat bread that is not only GF, but casein, egg, soy, yeast, & corn free? And are you able to ship? I used to live in Hockessin, DE as a child, but now I live in western Maryland. Hope you are able to respond.
